THE NAME OF JESUS

Preaching and teaching the Bible is paramount to being a Christian and walking in the Light. When you look at the word of God it says in ACTS 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

What’s in a name?

A name means a whole lot when it’s the name of Jesus!

Did you know that your name represents three things?

Your reputation

That’s why we say, "he’s making a name for himself," or "he’s got a good name," or "he’s got a bad name." When we say a name we automatically think of a persons reputation .

Your character

What you are cannot be separated from what your name is once your name and charater are identified together.In the Bible, when somebody changed their character, God often gave them a new name.

Your authority

When a police officer stops you, he says, "Stop in the name of the law" – it’s the law’s authority that stops you, not the man.

When you misuse God’s name, you defame His reputation, His character and His authority, because you are using His name wrong.

And there are many other ways to misuse His name besides just swearing!

Colossians 1:14-19 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
