I do not wish to enter the political part of the this but one thing I do need to say is that "change" is good when it comes to serving God. When someone needs change in their lives from sin and disappointment then change is exactly what one needs to get to the place of real peace and joy in their lives. I am not just encouraging someone to attend a Church (some of the most vile people I know go to a church) I am sharing the truth of God's promises to those who come to him for real change. Being Born Again is "real change" when the transforming power of the Lord enters one's life. The change happens when sins grip in that persons life is released by the blood of Jesus. Looking for change? Look to Jesus!!

Reaching forth

"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead" Phil 3:13

This scripture has become a focal point in my Ministry now more than ever. When we observe Paul in this writing he uses the first person singular “I” fifteen times from verse four to fourteen shows us the growth of his own soul before God. This maturity process is triggered by the life changing event of becoming a true Christian. Being a Christian is a life long process of becoming mature. When we see Paul address the brethren he is writing those who know and serve Christ without doubts. Paul addresses the brethren and draws them by his experience and also reminds us we must continue to grow. One thing I have noticed about persons who claim be a Christian is their walk with God. Paul writes that "the Lord apprehended me. Now I need to apprehend what he has apprehended me for". We must embrace the purpose for which you have been apprehended. Do you have unfinished business in your life? Sometimes God will allow us to fall on our face to keep us from the delusion that we are better than other Christians. We sometimes become spiritually smug. This fault creates a spiritual fat head. God then will bust our inflated ego and deflate our pride. Remember this ...."Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall". (Prov. 16:18).

Bringing the point home

I remember the first time someone came to me and was offended by the sermon I preached that day. I stood there in shock as the person unleashed a volley of concerns about the need to air peoples dirty laundry over the pulpit. I asked the person to share with me who it was that I was talking about? They stated "I promised them not to tell you". I replied that that was interesting and I also realized that people confide in some individuals and not come to me as the Pastor. I told the person that while maybe the dirty laundry came out in the message I would be more concerned with the fact that the person even had dirty laundry. I believe that the Bible reveals this in Hebrews 10:26 "For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins". So the next time you hear me preach be prepared to have your dirty laundry aired by the word of God. The wages of sin is still death......

What does the Bible say about Holiness ?

Greetings in Jesus Name,

This Blog comes from Pastor Donald Watson from Solid Rock Full Gospel Holiness Church in Claire, Michigan.

The UPC (again, I am using the word UPC as a general term for any holiness Oneness Pentecostal organization or church) believes that there are specific "holiness standards" that we must adhere to. Some churches debate whether or not adhering to these standards is required for salvation, but–in my experience–people who do not adhere to the "standards" are considered rebellious. Many Oneness Pentecostals view these people as unsaved. Also, people who initially adhere to the standards and then begin to doubt their validity are viewed as being "backslidden."

So, once again, the problem lies in the UPC view of holiness.

The question we must ask is, "What does the Bible say about holiness?"

The flagship Scripture used by the UPC is Hebrews 12:14, which says:

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord… (Heb 12:14 KJV)

The word holiness that is used in this Scripture is "sanctification." Sanctification means "Separation unto God1." That’s it. Separation unto God. It has nothing to do with standards of dress. Every time that the word was used in Scripture it referred to separation from sin or general separation from the old, unregenerated lifestyle. To illustrate this point, here is a list in context of all the times this particular Greek word that we translate "sanctification" or "holiness" was used in the New Testament:

(Rom 6:16-22 NASB)

Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

(1Co 1:26-31 NASB)
For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."

(1Th 4:1-8 NASB)

Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more. For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

(1Th 4:1-8 NASB)

For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

(Heb 12:12-14 NASB)
Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.

(1Ti 2:9-15 NASB)
Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Now, I saved 1 Tim. 2:15 for last, because this is a Scripture that is commonly misunderstood in UPC circles. The reason for the misunderstanding is two-fold:

1. First, the KJV translated (sanctification) as "holiness" in 1 Tim. 2:15.
2. Second, since the UPC already has the concept of "holiness" as being a standard of dress, and since the UPC uses the KJV almost exclusively, this Scripture passage is often used to teach that women should not wear jewelry (note the reference to "gold and pearls" in verse 9). I will cover this more when I deal with Jewelry, but even the casual reader will see that if Paul is saying that women cannot wear jewelry, then he is also saying that women cannot braid their hair or wear "costly clothing." Obviously, Paul is teaching a concept, not giving specific rules on how to dress.

So, once again, is holiness (sanctification) necessary? YES! Our goal should always be to be separated to God in everything we do, not just in specific "holiness standards." Women and men should both dress modestly. But does a church have the right to dictate certain rules such as "women can’t wear jewelry," "women can’t use make-up," "women can’t wear pants," and other similar rules? I cannot find any Biblical basis for doing so.find any Biblical basis for doing so.

Honoring Pastors

This Blog is in response to the group of people who made the choice to disrespect Pastors who labor for the Lord.

The Scripture says,

“Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.” (I Tim. 5:17,18)

In the Bible the term, “elder” or “elders” is speaking of pastors. Under the inspiration of God, Paul wrote that faithful pastors are “worthy of double honor” (vs. 17).

True Saints of God are highly supportive of their pastors and gladly submit to his God-given leadership role. However, some do develop a wrong attitude towards his or her pastor. There are few things more harmful and dangerous to the local church than a wrong heart about the pastor because unless corrected it will eventually bring some degree of discord and division.

Honor your Pastor for their “work’s sake”

I Thessalonians 5:12,13 says, “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.”

Here we see that honoring a pastor isn’t so much about “who he is” as a person, but “what he does” alluding to his God-ordained office.

What makes up the works of the pastor?

Well, as the elder (ruler), bishop (overseer) and under-shepherd (leader) the pastor’s works involve the mission and welfare of the local church. He’s to lead the church to follow God and His Word in carrying out the most paramount mission which exists, propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As part of this his works also entail following the Lord’s leadership in the care of the church which includes trying to help all members to grow in Christ, doing whatever’s required to ensure that sound doctrine and practice are maintained, leading in bringing forth Godly services, overseeing business matters, and a whole list of other duties.

So, since the works of the pastor involve the mission and welfare of the local church, the members need to do everything the Bible and Holy Spirit direct in order to help him, including giving him a high degree of esteem and honor.

Esteeming and honoring the pastor have to do with actively demonstrating great respect for his under-shepherd role, which inherently includes willingly submitting to his God-given leadership.

The word “rule” seen in I Timothy 5:17 means just what it says, “rule.” It speaks of “presiding over” and “having the care of.” Obviously, it’s indicating that the pastor has the undisputed leadership role.

The thing is, when a person or persons don’t highly esteem the pastor — when people don’t provide him with the proper respect through attitudes and actions — it hinders his work, which “is unprofitable” to the church and the entire cause of Christ. Pay careful attention to what it says in Hebrews 13:17,

“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”

Remember, the pastor’s work is the mission and welfare of the church, so when a member doesn’t respect him and his office, but instead resists and rebels against his God-appointed and anointed leadership, the work of that entire local body of Christ is hindered. And guess what can happen when such disrespect of pastors grows within churches?

Those churches may be destroyed, at least as true New Testament Churches.

Who was the first in history to refuse to esteem and honor the One in spiritual leadership over him? It was Lucifer, the devil. So who is the church member emulating when he or she has a wrong attitude toward the pastor? Yeah, that’s right!

Folks, what is the devil always trying to do to churches? He and his forces are continually seeking to hinder and destroy. The serpent will be very happy to use you to try to run off God’s man and tear apart the Lord’s church. Only a lost person could enjoy being used in such a way. Christian, don’t ever allow yourself to become a pawn of the devil against Christ’s church!

A church cannot possibly be of one accord, of one heart, and of one soul for the Lord unless every member has the proper attitudes and actions of respect for the pastor. (Acts 2:42-47; 4:32,33)

We can become so consumed with self that we refuse to see the biggest and most important picture. The mission and welfare of God’s church are much more vital than anyone’s personal whims, fancies and feelings! Every Christian must fight self. We must always love the Lord and His church enough to get “me” and “I” out of the way so that we can see and focus on the biggest and most important picture – the mission and welfare of the Church of Jesus Christ! You know, when one gets right down to it, to refuse the proper respect to a God-called pastor is to disrespect the Lord Almighty Himself. First, it disrespects God’s plan and organization. The Lord’s plan has always involved using under-shepherds in the position of spiritual leadership (i.e. – Moses, Joshua, the Judges, prophets, priests, several Hebrew kings).

To the God Who is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), all believers are equal in person, but we’re ordained to different roles. As much as some folks might desire the leadership role in the church, it’s clearly and undeniable bestowed upon the pastor by the Lord Himself. Filled with pride many believe that they can improve on God’s plan which gives rise to board-run churches, committee-run churches, domineering man or woman run churches, family-run churches and devil-run churches.

I Corinthians 14:33 tells us “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”In verse 40 we read, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

When there’s rebellion against a faithful pastor’s leadership, when there is slander being brought forth about him within the church, when a certain member or members are dedicated to getting their way, it certainly doesn’t bring peace. Rather, it brings chaos. We know that God isn’t the author of chaos, so who is?

Secondly, refusing proper respect to a God-called pastor disrespects the Lord by disregarding His Word. How can someone who truly fears God read Proverbs 6:16-19 and still possess a wrong attitude towards his or her pastor? There we read these words, “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

Not honoring pastors brings discord to churches; and God hates sowers of discord. If the church member believes that the pastor has offended him or her in some way, or done some grievous wrong, the Bible explains what to do. (Matt. 18:15-17) Jesus taught that we’re to “go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone.” Why is it then that folks usually go to everyone except the pastor to tell about his alleged fault(s)?

We should strive to be behind the pastor. If someone comes with complaints about him, you should immediately tell them that you don’t want to hear it, and to take the matter to the pastor alone, not to anyone else.

If fact, for the welfare of the Lord’s church, those who even smell the slightest stink of discord from anyone should be quick to report it to the pastor so that he can deal with the situation. Certainly the welfare of the church should be of much higher priority than any human relationship.

Honoring or not honoring a pastor really comes down to a person’s heart. Those who are humble and seek to be servants will have little trouble submitting to a Godly pastor’s leadership. Those who are prideful and seek to have their own ways will not properly submit to a pastor’s leadership until they get their hearts right with God.

Indeed, we should love the Lord and our pastor so much that we love him as Jonathan loved David. Do you know what I mean? Jonathan was supposed to be the next king of Israel after his father Saul would die. However, even knowing that David would still get that honor instead of himself, Jonathan stood behind the one who God had called to that position. In the word it says, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” Mt 24.36-37 I believe that God Gives You Time—In His Timing. I also believe that God wants us to recognize Him as Creator. Sometimes what God Asks of You Will Be Bittersweet. But remember that when God offers you His Kingdom, you must desire and take it Our Christian duty remains to witness until He comes again. The Bible reminds us “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Mt 24.42-44

Will you still follow the one who holds the future in His hand?

Dread not the things that are ahead,The burdens great, the sinking sands,The thorns that o’er the path are spread,God holds the future in His hands.

Words: James Rowe (1866-1933). Why? Because you can’t possibly tell if you haven’t given your best yet. Stop comparing – Comparing drives us for action. When I got saved in 1986 almost immediately I was involved in the Church doing bus ministry, car washes, Bible Studies and just about anything else that would come up. I noticed a group in the Church that would come out on Sunday and do the Church thing and then vanish until the next service. This group refused to participate in anything outside of the Sunday Service. I recently was observing that even in Solid Rock some folks just don't want to be a part of outreach and evangelism in our area. We currently are getting for our 1st annual fall fest here in Harvard and I must say that just about everyone in the Church is involved in this event and I expect God to do a great work in our community. Sister Gardner is the most involved member of Solid Rock as she spends countless hours working on projects and outreach in our Church along with our members is really making a difference in our outreach into the community. We are celebrating our 18th year here at Solid Rock Community Church and believe God has a great work for us.

Go back and tell them.....I am still standing for God

God continues to amaze me with his blessings as we continue to experience his revival and re-focus in the ministry.

I remember my very first sermon "Trusting in God a Good Investment" back in 1988. Now we are in the year 2009 and I am still standing for God. The Lord has kept me since I got saved back in 1986. Over the years I have seen many souls saved and have Baptized many new converts in the precious Name of Jesus Christ.

We began a new work in Palatine in 1991 and I still Pastor the same Church today. I have raised my Children in the faith and have seen my grand kids Baptized and some filled with the Holy Ghost over the years. I have watched my sons enter the ministry and experienced the heartaches as the moved on to other Churches.

My wife and I have been blessed to fellowship with some of the greatest fathers of the Apostolic Church over the years.

We have learned much and have trusted the Lord in the Good times and the hard times.

So, to all my friends and even those who have tried to destroy me and my family, go back and tell them that......

I liked the old paths, when our Mom's were at home and Dads were at work.
Sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay; Hard work did;And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;Dads would work;Children would behave.

Husbands were loving;Wives were supportive; And children were polite.

Women looked like ladies;Men looked like gentlemen; And children looked decent.

People loved the truth,And hated a lie; They came to church to get IN, Not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful; Rejoicing sounded normal; And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;Drinking was evil; And divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored;America was beautiful; And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;Prayed in school; And preached from house to house

To be called an American was worth dying for;To be called a Christian was worth living for; To be called a traitor was a shame!

Sex was a personal word.
Homosexual was an unheard of word,And abortion was an illegal word.

Preachers preached because they had a message; And! Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!

Preachers preached from the Bible;Singers sang from the heart; And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life;Salvation meant a changed life;Following Christ led to eternal life.

Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God; Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord; Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus; And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible;Homes read the Bible; And churches taught the Bible.

I have been observing how some modern day preachers seem to be more interested in so called new revelations and directions in their Ministries.

I watched a fellow Pastor sing an old song about the old preacher and how the Preachers were more interested in new converts,Than new clothes and new cars.God was worshiped;Christ was exalted; And the Holy Ghost was respected.

Church was where you found Christians On Sunday, rather than in the garden, working, fishing, on the golf course,Or being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the old paths the best!

Standing on his Promises

Did you know that God has made many promises in the Word for his people?

In my life all that has happened has been covered by the Blood of Jesus. We have an inheritance to all that God has promised us. When he gave to Abraham the New Covenant. Many are listed in Deuteronomy; He lists all of the benefits for those who walk in obedience to Him.
Did you know that there are things that no doctor or person could help us with ? When we receive our miracle, we know the Lord continues to bless us. God has already provided us with promises for every need we will ever need, so that we could not only look to Him for them, but so that we could put our faith in him and know without a doubt God has the answer.

Standing on His Word for His Promises

We need to understand how to, or the importance of standing on, God's word for His promises. When we believe for the Lord to move in our lives, we must find two or three scriptures that agree with us. In His Word, He states that where two or more agree, it shall be done. For this reason, when we pray His word, we are praying the results, rather than on the problem. We are believing Him for the answer by relying on God.

Don't Take his Word Out of Context!

Never take his word out of context... never twist the true meaning of scriptures into what you want it to mean, because that is clearly false. In this area, that is what the enemy uses to confuse us. If you do not know whether a certain scripture is for the purpose you would like to use it for, then ask God to reveal it to you.

Be Careful What You Say: "Bless" and do not "Curse"

The words that we speak are powerful. The Lord warned us that we will be responsible for every idle word that comes out of our mouth. If you speak doubtful words, you can literally block answers to your own prayers! His angels could be on their way with the answer, and you could speak doubt from being tired of waiting, and bind them from your lack of faith.

God's Will is His Word .

When you pray the Word, you pray the will of God, and the answer rather than focusing on the problem. If we are instructed to do what Jesus did, we need to learn how to speak the "end from the beginning". When you pray the promises, you pray the answers.God's word declares that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (the more we hear it, the more we believe and understand it) which is why we need to meditate on it day and night, and speak God's truth in our lives until we do it while we sleep. In other words, to stand on God's Word is to believe that He is not a man that He should lie, and that His word is truth. It is and always has been God's will for us to prosper in all things.

When Jesus said "it is my wish above everything else", that means that He is fervently stating what He wants for your life... more than anything. He loves you so much that He wants you to prosper in "all" things and to be in health, just as He wants your soul to prosper.

He came to give us an abundance of all good things, so thank Him for every good thing that He has done in your life. As you stand on His promises.

Resurrection Sunday

Resurrection Sunday is here again -- the dawn of a new morning. Many of us may have been here last year, too, for the Service. But we are not the same people we were a year ago.

We have all changed, some of us in big ways, and some in small, The flow of daily living makes it certain that, in ways big and small, our lives are different then they were 365 days ago.

Did you know that the earth's daily rotation, and it's annual orbit around the sun, are very reliable, very predictable things ?

But life itself has a way of throwing the unexpected at us. . . . Sometimes that is a blessing, a joyful thing; and sometimes that can be a difficult challenge or even a huge burden.

No matter what we may go through, in good times or in bad times, the world keeps on turning, spinning its way relentlessly around the sun. And even as it turns, the world we live in keeps changing, too. Sometimes for the better, and sometimes in ways we may find very disturbing.

But there is one thing has not changed during the past year. Jesus Christ has not changed. He is the same -- yesterday, today and forever.

He lives today as he lived then, and as he lived anew that very first Resurrection Morning, over 2,000 years ago.

A man named Alfred Ackley said it well in a hymn he wrote a little before my time, back in 1933:

"He lives, he lives, salvation to impart! "You ask me how I know he lives? He lives within my heart."I know He lives within your hearts, too, or I doubt very much you'd be here.

In her poem, Resurrection Morning, based on a passage from John 20, Peggy Keister has already done a good job of proclaiming the Gospel . . .

I don't know that I can add very much to what she has already expressed so well, but there is one story I would like to share with you.

Consider this, and let your imagination translate the story into our own time -- perhaps even to our own community here in Harvard Illinois. These are the words of a former president of the United States, in his own reflection on the miracle of his resurrection -- the greatest miracle of all. He writes:"A young man whose father is a carpenter grows up working in his father's shop. He starts preaching on street corners and in the nearby countryside, walking from place to place, preaching all the while, even though he is not an ordained minister. He does this for three years. Then he is arrested, tried and convicted.

"There is no Court of Appeal, so he is executed at age 33, along with two common thieves. Those in charge of his execution roll dice to see who gets his clothing -- the only possessions he has. His family cannot afford a burial place for him so he is interred in a borrowed tomb. End of story?

"No. This uneducated, propertyless young man who left no written word has, for 2,000 years, had a greater effect on the world than all the rulers, kings, emperors, all the conquerors, general and admirals, all the scholars, scientists and philosophers who have ever lived -- all of them put together. How do we explain that? . . . unless he really was what he said he was."

Who do you say Jesus was?

He may yet be in our midst without our realizing it, just as he was with Mary Magdalene on that first morning, and as he would later that day appear to the two men on the road to Emmaus. How will he become known to us today? Or in the days to come? Will we seek him out as Mary Magdalene and the others did that morning? Will we look to the Risen Christ every day as our Savior, as the Lord of our lives?

Sooner or later, the Risen Lord comes to us all, and speaks our name as he did that of Mary Magdalene. When he does, will we be ready to hear him?

So many of the post-Resurrection appearances of Jesus involved the sharing of food, that it does seem a fitting and proper way to acknowledge and enjoy his presence among the living on this Easter morning. That is why the carry-in breakfast we will soon partake in is, in many ways, much more than a meal. In some ways, like Holy Communion itself, it is a Sacred Event -- as we are gifted by the Presence of God.

And I guess in the final analysis, that is the Great Message of Jesus, and the reason for our joy. Because He lives -- because Jesus is alive and active in the world by the Power of the Holy Ghost, we can enjoy His presence with us, and the new life he brings, each and every day of the year. We don't really have to wait another 365 days to celebrate his resurrection.

Each new day the Risen Lord calls on you and me -- on all who believe in the miracle of the Resurrection -- to be part of new life in Christ.

So the words of the psalmist are proven to be true: Weeping may tarry for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

May God bless you with a full realization of the Miracle we celebrate -- and always.

Alleluia! He is Risen!

Faith is the Victory in our Lives

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. These are natural disasters and acts of inhumanity.

We sometimes feel helpless before the wrath of nature's elements and peoples wanton disregard for the sanctity of human life. Sometimes I wonder just where are we headed and how it can be repaired.

We become faint-hearted because we live in a generation of we want it now--we feel hindered and hampered when solutions are not within our immediate grasp. Yet, God's word will remind us that despite what it looks like on the outside, God is still working his purpose out. His response to our prayers will come.

I wonder then what should our attitude be as we wait on God? In Psams 37:7 the Psalmist encourages us to trust God and live right; to do what God wants; to dispense of our anger and to"be patient and trust the LORD" As a Bishop waiting patiently does not come easily to all of us.

We need to remind ourselves that we have already overcome the world by the Spirit that God gives us. Although it appears that evil is triumphing over good, we should not be discouraged in our quest to serve Jesus.

The aesome power that God gives us is wrapped in our faith that if anchored on Christ, produces unbelievable results. It is our faith in God that will keep us when the things around us seems to go crazy. The apostle Paul tells us that we ought to let the faith and love of Christ Jesus guide our every action (2 Timothy 1:13). Faith is the Victory when we walk by faith and not by sight.

God did it...........

Two weeks ago on Friday the 13th I went to a local Hospital for a stress test. During the test, I was running on the treadmill and was tested for problems by ultrasound. The technician and Doctor noticed that my heart was enlarged on the right side and showed me the image of my heart on the screen. This was a huge concern to my Doctor and he sent me back again to the Hospital to have a 2D Electrocardiogram on my heart. Last Sunday I told the Church about my diagnosis and my church family began to pray for God to heal me.

On Monday February 20th I arrived at the Hospital and was tested. To the surprise of the tech she saw that my heart was tested as normal. She looked at me while I layed there and said "Who told you that your heart was enlarged?" I replied to her after a moment and said "you did". She was in shock and said that my heart appears to be completly normal. I left the Hospital and my wife Maria and I proclaimed that God did it and we also praise God for this miracle in my life. Yes, God did it!!!

The Joy of Fellowship

I love to fellowship with the Saints of God. Our conflict is not with people, or nations, but with Satan and his demons. We need to understand that many times when people oppose us, the reason behind it is spiritual. The spirit working in the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2) hates the true children of God and wants to hinder the work of God through us.

This is why there will always be certain people rising up against the children of God. Sometimes these people will be from within the church. Some of them will claim to be a Christian. We all need to be vigilant. We need to be on guard, prayerful, keeping the Word of God in our hearts and our eyes on the Lord If not, we are open to satanic attack

.
We must love and forgive our human enemies, but we are to oppose the evil spirits at work behind them and use the spiritual weapons that God makes available to us.

Paul was aware of the reality of the spiritual conflict since he himself had to fight many battles with the powers of darkness in his ministry. Paul's letter to the Ephesians are relevant for us in our spiritual warfare against satan and his demons today. The spiritual realm operates in parallel to our physical world. There is some correspondence with physical geography. By this I mean, a certain geographical areas may have more or less demons or angels present at any given time.

Evil activities attract evil spirits.

Prayer, praise and faith bring God's angels on the scene and disperse demonic powers.

When we have victory in our lives the result will bring an outpouring of the power of God.

Church leaders must understand that this is the only way to revival. We are not going to have revival by entertaining people with groovy music or other cool events. We are free to do these things if it pleases the Spirit of God, but without prayer, combined with repentance, there will never be a true revival of significance. The need then in the west is that Saints and Leaders who can mobilise many to pray.

Our God is looking to Pastors for such leadership. Unlike any other widely followed religious leader in history, Jesus Christ made a unique claim. He declared himself God. Not a god, not god-like, but God incarnate -- the creator of the universe in human flesh. Intellectually, that's very disturbing. Spiritually, that's a direct attack on everything comfortable and coexisting in my safe little world. There are only four options for the identity of Jesus Christ. He is either a legend, a liar, a lunatic or He is Lord and God. There is little likelihood that Jesus’s claims are legend. There was not enough time for any legendary development of the story to replace what really happened. Also, if the claims Jesus made for Himself are legendary, the early Jewish opponents of Christianity would surely have charged that these claims never happened. Unlike modern skeptics, the rabbis apparently never denied that Jesus made such claims for Himself. Instead, they called Him a liar. Jesus thought of Himself as divine. According to the various gospel accounts, Jesus believed He had the power to perform miracles and the power to forgive sins. He even claimed, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30).Since Jesus claimed to be God, His claims are either true or false. If false, He must have been a liar, deliberately misleading the multitudes. Or, He was a lunatic, sincerely believing Himself to be God, when in reality He was just a man. Jesus’ moral character and His willingness to die for His claim to be God have convinced most people that Jesus was not lying. Jesus’ humility and unselfish love, His intelligent communication with the crowds, and His amazing self control and composure amidst the tremendous physical and emotional stress for his betrayal and crucifixion, all point to His contact with reality. Jesus was no lunatic. Since the evidence shows that He is neither a liar nor a lunatic, then the only other alternative left is that His claim is true. Jesus is Lord and God. And that conclusion is further supported by the remarkable evidence that Jesus rose physically from the grave.

Now thats what I call a hypocrite!!

Hypocrisy (or the state of being a hypocrite) is the act of preaching a certain belief, religion or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself. For example, if a person were to tell one to repent for his sins yet he never repents himself this is hypocrisy.

I have often wondered about what is a hypocrite? In 1986 shortly after becoming a Christian I experienced my first taste of a christian hypocrite. This person who I thought was so close to God really was just a plain old hypocrite. In later years after becoming a minister God revealed even more of these lost souls parading themselves around as being saved yet they had what I call a Holy Ghost vacancy in their life. As time went on over the years I see so clearly how someone can be lured into hypocrisy. First, when someone begins to attack your walk with God it would be hypocritical if the person making the claim had any sin in their lives at all. When a person claims to be a Christian and spends vast amounts of time looking at others lives and faults and spends vast amounts of time judging people then I believe that their lives must be perfect and holy which is impossible in God's eyes. I have experienced so called Christians and even my own family members who have taken their best shot at me and our ministry.(Some even boasting that they will destroy me) I wonder how God feels about them when they have made the decision to become a hypocrite. Now I must confess that the flesh is a powerful tool. With many years experience in asking God to forgive them and looking forward to a great year I will continue to pray for the Church and yes even the hypocrites.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 3:16 "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." .

Jesus was born to save mankind from sin by giving everlasting Salvation to all who will put their faith and trust in him as seen in Acts Chapter 2. This is the reason Christmas is celebrated; it is not just another paid day off work; or just another get together with family, and friends. The goal shouldn't be to see how much stuff we can get.

Jesus said that He was the way the truth and the life, and that no one could come to the Father but by him. He didn't say that he was a good way, or the easiest way, or the most financially profitable way; he just said that he was, and is the only way to Heaven. According to the Bible: the Gospel (good news) is:" that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures": he offered himself as a sacrifice for every living person. Jesus said in John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." That is exactly what Jesus did. He laid his life down for you, and for me. The bible says that the wages of sin is death, but Jesus never sinned so he didn't have to die, He chose to for our sakes.

The Christmas season should also be about spreading goodwill.

The hundreds of Santa letters written by children are often a sad testament to how we have failed to keep the focus on Jesus during the Christmas season. Most kids believe more in Santa than they do in Jesus. Our society has truly commercialized Christmas. Exchanging gifts, and getting together with loved ones is not a "bad" thing; that is not what I'm trying to say at all. The problem is that all our focus is on presents instead of the presence of Jesus is what Christmas should be about.

Let's not forget that the most important gift that anyone could receive at Christmas time, or any time for that matter is the gift of Salvation. After all that is why Jesus came to the earth in the first place.

Today is a great opportunity to share with someone that comes across your path? If you do then you'll be glad you took the time to think about the real meaning of Christmas.

The Danger of False Doctrine- Eternal Security

I really believe that the most dangerious preachers and teachers are the ones who preach once saved is always saved. You see, Easy Christianity Is dedicated to effortless and carefree religion- and has invented the doctrine of eternal security or "once saved-always saved."

This is false doctrine! The Word of God nowhere teaches that once a man is born again he may give free rein to the lusts of the flesh and be as worldly as he pleases, yet still be sure of getting to heaven. Rather, it teaches, "If you live according to the flesh, you will die" (Romans 8:13). "If anyone does not remain in me," Jesus said, "He is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned" (John 15:6). The Apostle Peter remarks, "It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and then to turn their backs...of them the proverbs are true `A dog returns to its vomit,' and, `A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud'" (2 Peter 2:22,23).
Is there no assurance for the Christian that he will make it to glory? Of course there is! But it is found in the Reformation doctrine of the "Perseverance of the Saints." Scripture teaches that all those who are once saved persevere in holiness and are finally saved.

This is great comfort for the true Christian, but none to the one who wants carefree Christianity.

Is Sin still .......Sin?

The Church today is being faced with the challenge to stand against sin in the camp. In Galations 5:7 we read"Ye did run well;who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?".

This scripture is sobering when you really understand that sometimes we look to others fault s and sins but seem to not look at our own weakness and hangups. We seem to blame the Devil and others for our problems when we could be the real problem. The scripture continues in Verse 8 when Paul says "This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you". The problem is that my worst enemy is me. I must remember that the same grace and forgiveness I expect from others must begin with me and my witness before God. We must remember that the enemy works best in the darknes of our minds and the hardness of our hearts. The Bible warns us to "come out from among them and be seperate". When you look at the word of God it says in ACTS 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

What’s in a name?

A name means a whole lot when it’s the name of Jesus!

Did you know that your name represents three things?

Your reputation

That’s why we say, "he’s making a name for himself," or "he’s got a good name," or "he’s got a bad name." When we say a name we automatically think of a persons reputation .

Your character

What you are cannot be separated from what your name is once your name and charater are identified together. In the Bible, when somebody changed their character, God often gave them a new name.

Your authority

When a police officer stops you, he says, "Stop in the name of the law" – it’s the law’s authority that stops you, not the man.

When you misuse God’s name, you defame His reputation, His character and His authority, because you are using His name wrong.

And there are many other ways to misuse His name besides just swearing!

Colossians 1:14-19 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Should Christians celebrate Halloween?

Every year the question arises when Halloween arrives. Most Churches and society embrace this holiday as a harmless event for kids. but, what does the Bible say about Halloween?

The answer is nothing. Tarot Cards, contacting the dead, séances, lucky charms, etc., are all unbiblical and can harm a Christian's fellowship with God and open the Christian to demonic oppression. Most Christians know this and avoid these activities. But, the question still remains. Since there are ancient pagan connections and present occultic connections. I do have somewhat of a problem with the UPC in that the Pastors cannot seem to agree on even the basics of the teachings of the Church and Bible. For example many Pastors and members have Televisions in their homes and while they do keep them in closets I feel that if you are a part of this group and have a license you should follow the rules. Last year they had a split in the UPC over just that issue. In addition the outward standards are not followed in unison. Some Churches allow beards and cutting of hair while others do not. Here is the UPC Ministers affirmation

Then if it is not enough some churches are now teaching that the Jews had their chance and cannot be saved. This is a false and dangerous teaching. Another problem is the I am better than you attitude exhibited by both leadership and members of these churches.

It is amazing that this cult is so well known on the internet. Google searches bring a lot of information regarding problems with this group Bad Pastors in UPC and here are more blogs exposing this group Blogs . As you see even though we are Apostolic in our beliefs we are not a UPC Church.

Signs of the times

Dear Brothers and Sisters I believe without a doubt that we are living in the last days. I recently read this in II Tim. 3:1-5, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” So we can really feel that the last days are upon us, just look at Israel and mankind. They both point to the end of this world as we know it.

I believe that what we are seeing today is a defection from the truth of God's word. The churches and pastors are no longer contending for the faith but are pretending to have faith. They are no longer standing on the promises of the God. Becoming lukewarm is a slow step by step process; there is no doubt a pattern.First of all it begins with a departure from standards. The word standards means, “that which is established by sovereign power as a rule or measure by which others are to be adjusted.” The root word stand means, “to remain upright, in a moral sense; not to fall.” Remember the word falling in our text speaks of a defection from the truth, and with that in mind look at Eph. 6:13-14, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;” When you have an unspiritual congregation with an unspiritual book you end up with an unconverted church and a complete departure from the faith.

To the Churches that are at the brink of apostasy found in Rev. 2:5, “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”

To my Brothers and Sisters that are still in the battle keep on standing as recorded in II Tim. 4:2, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine,” and Jude 24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”

Bishop David Gardner

Pastor's are people too!

This morning started out like any other day I was sitting at the table eating breakfast with my family when suddenly there was a loud knock on the patio door. I walked over and looked out only to find a container on the patio. We brought the items inside and found it filled with cards foods and gifts from some of the ladies in our Church. The items were marked to me and also my wife and son also. I cannot tell you in words how blessed we are today by the love shown by God's people. I am truly humbled by their actions. Sounds good.... but, there is a huge problem with that teaching. Heaven is a place that Jesus is in total control of (Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.") If Jesus is in control and has ALL power in Heaven and Earth then we must assume that he is the way to salvation.

In John Chapter 3

[1] There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
[2] The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
[3] Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Jesus said it best...

John.14
[1] Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
[2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
[4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

Jesus Christ is the only true and living God.... He is the Way!
